Humour in Psychoanalysis and Coaching Supervision
In September 2022 was my book “Humour in Psychoanalysis and Coaching Supervision. It is a book which foundation began to piece together while I was growing up, even realizing it. It is about how humor is a way of going through life, but I didn’t really know how to put it into words, probably I was not able how to think about it. Later, much later, when I was studying psychoanalysis with a lot of passion and curiosity, I found that in 1927 Freud had written a magnificent text, quite shortly, that condensed his thinking about humor. I gave myself the task to continue the research bibliographical search and from there another part of the book emerged. An attempt to make a historical construction of the development of humor, thinking that humor as we know it now had not always been as such, but had evolved and as Octavio Paz said, “humor is the product of modern man”.

In this first part of the book there are distinctions of general interest about how various forms of comedy and humor coexist and not all have the same result in the human mind or in the audience.

The second part is a more psychological-psychoanalytic investigation that includes different theoretical developments of what humor consists of dynamically, as well as how it develops in the human being from the time of infancy until becoming elder.

The last part is a proposal of how it can be used for professions such as coaching, coaching supervision, as well as for consultants and other experts in human development.

It does not seek to be a manual, nor to include everything, rather it aims that humor can be included, thought of and exercised as a companion in the life of each one and in the way we work. I would love to hear your comments and your thoughts about your reading.
